ice storm pics post 1

ok...first of all let me just say that we are all OKAY! actually we are all doing better that most people. I am so thankful that Daddy had the forethought to go ahead and get everything ready to use the generator. Just several weeks ago he had RECC (electric co) come out and he, rick and tim got the service ready so just in case, all he would have to do is flip a switch out on the pole and put the generator to the box and it runs off the tractor. (that is the very short version)
The entire county is without power. We found out that hurricane ike prepared a lot of people, they went out and purchase vent less heaters and gas logs for instances like this. so many people have some kind heat but not water...we are very very blessed.
Gaylon, the kids and I, grandma and monte are all staying with mom and dad. we don't know how long it will be. i hope we don't drive mom crazy. grandma and monte have done very well!!! please pray that it continues. mom is making monte sleep with her so she can keep him from peeing in the floor (he has started back to doing this...probably acting out) but he has not and we are thankful!!! grandma is good...she just feels like she has to be doing something if anyone is up in the kitchen. and you have to watch her cause she is fast as lightening about getting something that is not hers and putting in her purse, pocket or some place that must take a while to find :) it can be comical at times LOL!
Gaylon, Dad, Jonathan and Ricky are on the way to Union City...they(the city only) have diesel, gas and electric over there. EVERYWHERE else, including Paducah is without power. It looks like a war zone around here. (as you can see)
The pictures will be a surprising to you... it is sad but we are still grateful. no one is hurt, our homes are in good shape (just pray the pipes don't burst at our houses that don't have electric or heat) ***it will not upload right now, will send them later****

We have no phone service and no internet so we can't talk to you. Thank goodness Uncle Carl has internet!!! you can email and such, i will come back over later and check it again.

We love you all and inspite of all the changing of the scenery, we are still very blessed and God is taking care of us!

Are you Blessed?

It looks like we all have troubles but some people more than others. After seeing this I feel blessed no matter what happens in my life. Please watch this video. It is truly the most inspiring video I have ever seen. So when you think you have it so bad please remember this man says God has Blessed him. I know that God has blessed me.

Thank you Mimi and Grandaddy!

Ellie turned six today and Mimi and Grandaddy got her pajamas that matched her doll "Caroline.". She was VERY excited. We celebrated with donuts this morning and the traditional yearly picture by her birthday door!

grandmommie's house

well...it is not anywhere near complete but here is what it looks like so far.
the walls are java and the ceiling is black. had to keep the carpet...can't afford to replace it right now...if it looks ok, then i will just leave it. :) the house needs to have more support first (and i mean first!) and then windows~there are so many cracked.
anyway...here is what it looks like today.

How to???

Grant....
is there anyway to make becoming a contributor easier? If so, could a link or something be posted on each page so it doesn't matter where you are on the blog it would be easy to find and click?
just curious if it can happen that way.
maybe more would contribute if it were easier to find....
thanks so much..

Construction again...

Well, I really thought that I would not try to do anymore work at Grandmommie's until later in the year but....God is really blessing my little business and I received 5 calls in 2 days and people are wanting to use The Peery House for a variety of events. :) yeah! But, those of you who visited for Christmas know how crowded it was. So, I got a call Tuesday asking if I could host approximately 30 people and thought...hmmmmm "if David can do it, I am all for it!" Long story short, I called David (who is responsible for 95% of the renovations) to see if he could "squeeze" me in and he literally is going to "squeeeeezzzeee" me in. He is coming after work on Saturday and then on Sunday to paint Grandmommie's bedroom.
I will post some pictures of before tomorrow...I had said all along that I wanted a Salmon red room, but I was afraid of how it would look coming off of the foyer with brown and blue (bathroom). You can also see the blue and brown kitchen...all the open doors. So.....I went with dark chocolate on the walls and black (yes, black) on the ceiling....Can't wait to see it!!!
I am going for a more casual feel in there...something that the men will appreciate and feel comfortable in. Also...something a little less formal, ya know.
Mom's creative juices are flowing...Dad said tonight when I called, "she is downstairs trying to get a bunch of mirrors and frames together for Grandmommie's " :) I am very certain that she will have it looking spectacular as always!!!
Can't wait to show you next week!

The Gubser's are Denver-ites!

Grant and I are about to complete our first month here in Denver. During this seemingly short time a lot has happened.

*After a week of bumming at Alisa & Tommie's house (Grant's sister and brother-in-law), we finally moved in to our place. (See pictures)*We've explored our little area of town, known as the community of Bow Mar in Denver. We live within 4 miles of a farmer's market grocery store (Sunflower Market) and other grocery places, a movie theater, Bally fitness (as if we'll use it, ha!), two Super Target's, a really nice mall, REI (outdoors place we're just wild about), and tons of shopping and restaurants. Talk about prime location!
*We've taken advantage of every moment to see the mountains. In our area we're about 10 miles from the main ranges, which is a lot closer than any of the other family that lives out here.
*We've had two good snow days with about 4-6 in. each time. Once, we went sledding for an afternoon. (See pictures)
*Even amidst the snow, nearly every day the temp. has made it up to 45 or 50! So nice!
*I got a job as a nanny! Next week I'll start looking after a 13mo. old little girl named Madelynn (unsure of spelling just yet). I'm really excited about this opportunity; I'll only be working four days a week and will get paid really well!
*Grant is in the process of getting a job. He's had a couple of interviews with some print shops and has been given a conditional offer for a FT position, so be praying that that comes through! He's also been given the opportunity to help out with a home construction job for a month.
*We've spent plenty of time with the Bozich's and Perret-Gentil's here in Denver, both of which are Grant's sisters and brothers-in-law. And we absolutely love every moment we have with them. We also get to be with our 13mo. old niece and will be welcoming another niece next month!
*We watched the Florida Gators win the Orange Bowl. (See pictures)
*We've visited three different churches so far, and we think we've found our community already! We never thought things would come together so quickly, but we're about 99.9% sure "Aspen Grove" is going to be our new church home. I could go on and on about this place, but I'll spare you. Feel free to call me and ask more about it though.
*I'm in the process of putting a personal blog together for the two of us. I know it sounds like there are too many to follow these days, but we've had tons of friends and family ask for updates on us two, and it will help us keep people updated. So be looking for an update on that here soon.

Of course there's been so much going on in our lives that it's tough to mention it all, but I hope this little update will whet your appetites.

We look forward to hosting all of you as you plan your trips to Denver! We love you all so very much.

Warmly,

b&g

Happy New Year from TN!

Greg and I made a quick trip to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge for the New Year's Celebration. It was wonderful! We went to my/our favorite Pottery shop.
Mr Alewine lived in Martin and graduated high school with Phil (Greg's brother). He decided to move to Gatlinburg and start a Pottery shop. He has been there for 30 years.
Every year that we've been back to Gatlinburg, we have visited his shop. I have several pieces from his store. I love his work.
So check him out on the web at: www.alewinepottery.net.

happy new year!!

just wanted to tell all of you who i do not get to see too often happy new year. my prayers for us this year is that God continue to bless us with good health, continue to meet our needs~finanacially and spiritually, and that we will be able to see each other more often. but most of all, if there is one of you out there that is missing "something", i pray that you will be receptive to Jesus Christ, the one true way. all i know is that when he came into my heart 3 years ago, my life has never been the same.
and so to never forget how precious life really is, if you don't know it...i love each of you very much and am so blessed to call you my family!
